Card in Round/Flowerpot Instructions

These instructions are the intellectual property of Rubbernecker and Print Blocks Pty Ltd.

Throughout the Rubbernecker range, you will find stamps in themes with a large main symmetrical stamp. In addition to general stamping and card crafting, these large symmetrical stamps can be used to make amazing 3D freestanding cards, handing decorations and mobiles, or the more elaborate 'Cards in the Round'.

They are a Rubbernecker concept and fun to make and a delight to give. They are like a 'pop up' card with many segments, which are secured with a ribbon when opened. They can be freestanding or hung as a mobile to delight young friends, and they fold flat for easy posting, so you can impress your friends and family.

You will need:

White cardstock, and or heavy weight paper, dark ink pad or embossing set, marker pens, watercolour pencils etc, scissors, paper glue and/or double sided adhesive tape, 'Kindy Glitz', foil or glitter if desired and a 3mm satin ribbon approximately 1/2 metre.

1. Stamp six of the large flowerpots onto the white cardstock. (RNM1636 Large Flowers in Pot) You may emboss or use a black or dark colour ink pad is best. Colour each image identically using market pens, watercolour pencils etc., and cut them out. Take one of these and cut along the fold line to give you two halves lengthwise.

2. On the five remaining, use a sharp Craft Knife and cut along the top line and curved bottom edge of the centre pot. Using a bone scorer, score down the sides of the centre pot. Fold each entire large pot exactly in half, with the coloured side in. At the same time push the smaller pot inwards folding on the score lines.

3. Beginning with one of the folded pieces, apply paper glue to one half of the uncoloured side. Take another folded piece, and line it up on the glued half, making sure all edges and top and bottom are even. Repeat this process using the remaining of your folded pieces so they form a book like stack.

4. Take the piece of ribbon and tie it firmly and flat around the centre of the entire glued stack of cards with a bow at the opening edge. If you wish to hang your card as a mobile (optional), cut 6cm off the ribbon, fold in half and glue 1cm of the ends on each side of the card stack, at the top next to the folded edge, forming a loop.

5. Lastly, glue on the two half pieces to the outer side of the card stack, one on each side, covering the ribbon, and giving a finished look to the outside of your card. A co-ordinating hang tag can later be tied to one end of the ribbon if desired.

6. Stamp the small flowers in pot stamp five times, colour and cut out. (RNH1677 Small Flowers in a Pot). Fold each in half with the coloured side outwards. Place double sided tape or glue on the pot area only, and attach over the centre pot on the large card. Repeat until all are positioned.

Shaker Cards using Rubbernecker Frame Stamps

These instructions are the intellectual property of Rubbernecker and Print Blocks Pty Ltd.

This technique can be applied to any large stamp design that you can cut a 'window' in such as the frame stamps or designs like the Fishbowl or Glass Jar. You will need Foamcore Board, Embossing, Foil and Glitter Tape 6 or 9mm wide, and a sheet of overhead transparency plastic as well as general stamping supplies.

Stamp the design on lightweight cardstock and colour as desired. Using a craft knife, cut out the window area. Place on foamcore board and trace around the window hole. Use a craft knife to cut a hole in the foamcore cutting 2-3mm outside the traced line so that the hole in the foamcore is slightly larger than the hole in the stamped outer.

Using the Embossing, Foil and Glitter Tape, tape around the edge of the 'window' on the back of the stamped card. Peel the backing paper off the tape and adhere to the Overhead Transparency plastic. Trim the Overhead Transparency plastic back to the edge of the tape. Apply paper glue to the back of the card (but not over the 'window' area) and paste onto the Foamcore board, aligning the hole. Fill the window with 'confetti' or make your own. Shrink plastic is great for this, simply stamp with non porous ink or 'Fabrico', cut out and shrink with the 'Emboss It' heat tool! Sponge on colour with Fabrico and heat to set.

Apply paper glue to the back of the foamcore and attach a piece of card over the entire area. This seals in the confetti. The back of the card can be stamped with a scene in the 'window' area if desired, before attaching.
